In Kunze’s arrangements and compositions for the Firehorns the musical influences of the last 30 years, playing with musicians like Bobby Shew, Ack van Rooyen, Conti Candoli, Albert Mangelsdorff, Jiggs Wigham, Barbara Dennerlein, Thomaz Stanko, Andy Haderer, Stefan Lotterman, Günther Bollmann, Till Brönner, Bob Mintzer, Derick Wattkins, James Last, Fettes Brot, Ricky Martin, are audible.
In 1997 he established the brass-quintet „Brass Mission“ together with Jürgen Roth. Now – with the Firehorns – he introduces his second ensemble. Both ensembles, „Brass Mission“ and „Firehorns“ contrast clearly with other jazz-publications and tread new musicals paths.
